heese houses:
river cottages by harry weese, the usual suspect!
the scale of this building, the fact that is next to the river, almost downtown [!]chicago, the small open green areas in between the houses together with the experimentation of the form makes me really want to get a small vessel and visit them...
the photos were shot in a hurry, but what do you expect while the boat was moving?

I saw those when we took the boat a few days ago. I think they are kinda neat actually.
if you look at this photo from the previous post you can see their location right after the refrisgerator building: http://bp3.blogger.com/_u3ttqLz5-jY/Rn3VSYLDZGI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/5F8nOiT3NeE/s1600-h/ztoloudi_weese_01.JPG
they might be kitsch or postmodern [they were built 1990 and they are not beautiful like the prison or the punched refrigerator] but there are some qualities there that you can not miss. these qualities might emerge only from the green joungle or the strategic location at chicago river downtown.
i think lot of architects did mistakes at the postmodern period, they were kind of confused and totally following the stream, and maybe the building in the drawings without the trees would look totally awkward and ugly but still i think there is something there... it has to be...harry weese was taught by alvar aalto!
ggia: you totally discouraged me from posting about another weird building around the area =]
zee, dont get discouraged and keep posting...
i thought that, with such a mix of styles, that aread was really interesting!
