apparently diller scofidio + renfro rented or borrowed their [former?] studio to mira nair for the sake of "the namesake" movie.
here is gogol, a 2nd generation indian immigrant talking on the phone while working. his girlfriend is coming to bring him sushi for lunch!

i was expecting to see the yale studio, where he was somehow studying but i guess at that time he had already started to work!
unfortunately i can not find a still photo from the scene where he was gluing a model: there was a "fold" on it, but kind of rough!
it seems though that mira nair really likes diller+scofidio, the "display engineers" as aaron betsky says, since she made gogol's family to walk next to their permanent installations at JFK, the holographic "travelogues"::
actually gogol, the small boy was looking for a while at one of them.
that must have influenced him [at least unconsciously] to become an architect and not taj mahal, as he had told his parents!
imdb's goofs are "annoyed" by the use of holographic extreme technology::
"Anachronisms: While in the International Arrivals area of JFK Airport, Gogol focuses on the holographic photos/art lining the hallway; this is a modern decoration of that area [and that technology wasn't prevalent ~20 years ago]."

Beautiful post, zee. Gogol? Pretty bizzare for an Indian boy, isn't it? Yale is rather typical though... Stayed up all night sketching and making models out of black (oh, yes!) cardboard then watching Marie Antoinette - not a very sane choice but isn't that typical antics from an architect? :P
did you watch the movie? actually which movie? namesake or marie antoinette?
