13

recently i found out that in USA and Canada the 13th floor is missing from many high rise buildings.
13 is considered an unlucky number [since it is a highly composite number?] and although architects/ owners are not [often] superstitious they have to skip floor 13 due to low rentability of this floor.
sometimes they rename the floor 12A or they give to the floor another function [ex. mechanical equipment etc].
in asia 4 is considered to be an unlucky number due to its death meaning. so they have similar policies for 4.14. 24 etc.

FYI*
triskaidekaphobia
thirteen floor

life of an architect is such a complicated life sometimes...

well, whether you name it 12A or whatever it's still there and it's practically the 13th floor. Isn't it?

you're right zee! life of an architect is a very complicated life! i didn't know about the asian aversion for 4.
Also in Italy 13 was considered unlucky, because it is related to the Last Supper in christian culture. I said "was" because in the recent times, 13 is usually considered lucky and the bad position has been taken by the 17. i dont know were 17 come from...but i guess the invasion of most "pagan" beliefs, such as Friday 17, changed our culture! I like 13 by the way...so i am annoyed when i dont find it in skyscrapers!
Any other weird numbers related constraints around the world?

I didn' t know that, thanks
! Although my experience at the moment is rather short, life of an architect gets really complicated, mainly because we consume it as if it was a product.

PS:A friend of mine, knows your father! She was a student of his. Her name is Christina
