vote chicago*

as some of the chicagoans know URBANLAB is the firm that will represent chicago [after winning the local competition] in the engineering and empire "city of the future" competition.
i was lucky enough to be martin felsen's teaching assistant for a year at IIT and i had the opportunity to participate in the research he has been doing together with the students for urban design.
in this project each team had a week to prepare but URBANLAB's ideas have been definetely emerging from the long chicago megalopolis research. its kind of interesting that there is an american firm touching the overloaded words of sustainable, eco-design in a non-boring way. by looking into their proposal i think its an original idea responding to the characteristics of chicago.
to vote chicago [midwest], new york [east] or los angeles [west] click here.

*until feb 2nd

i am sorry mave!
there is always a problem when you are writing for people that know almost everything about an event and others that know nothing!
:::
3 cities: chicago, new york and los angeles are competing through their design representatives for the best scheme regarding the city of the future.
i encouraged people to vote chicago because i know the team [smart people] and i believe in the originality of their idea.
you can see all the projects if you click the link i have at the end of the post!
but you don't have so much time... =]

regrading the topic, maybe you know that sustainability is a big issue in usa. it makes sense but its also kind of paradox [especially here]. but this is the way it is. i think architects that are not afraid to touch it in a
f r e s h way are admirable for their effort.

I find it extremelly funny that D.Libeskid is the "expert" commenting on each solution. To be honest I would vote for Los Angeles, (ok I am Very biased here ) even though I think that urbanlab have done a great job in susstainability in the city of Chicago. The idea of Eric owen moss to increase infrastructure in LA is a very daring one and i think that it has a connection with the 3d utopian city proposed by Zenetos in Greece in the 70's ...

ps: people outside the US cannot vote ...
